2015-2016 Winter Forecast

Immediately below is the official winter forecast brief. Below that is information regarding the creation of the forecast including other maps and analogs.

This winter has been greatly anticipated because a strong El Niño is affecting the weather. In other words, the tropical waters along the equator west of South America are very warm. Because warmer water evaporates at a greater rate, the El Niño will cause above average precipitation in the area.
