The Weather Channel and basic weather apps use weather models as forecasts. As a result, such forecasts are ever-changing. However, Mike's Snow Watch uses experience, patterns, and models together to develop forecasts. Mike's Snow Watch warned its viewers six days in advance that Hurricane Sandy was approaching the New Jersey coast, well before the media reported it. Mike's Snow Watch also predicted the snowy 2009-2010, 2010-2011, and 2013-2014 winter seasons and the "Snowtober" snowstorm in October 2011.
